MPAS Reacts to Issy Stapleton Tragedy

MPAS logo

Statement from Elmer L. Cerano, Executive Director at Michigan Protection & Advocacy Service, Inc., on the Issy Stapleton tragedy:

“Michigan Protection & Advocacy Service, Inc. (MPAS) is deeply saddened by the events that took place Sept. 3 concerning Isabella (Issy) Stapleton and her family. The agency’s most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Issy in what will undoubtedly be a long road of, not only physical, but emotional recovery.

“MPAS believes that there is no excuse or acceptable rationale to justify an attempt to end Issy’s life.  If the facts prove the allegations against Issy’s mother, Kelli Stapleton, are true, swift and uncompromised justice must be served.

“At this point our primary concern is to ensure that Issy is receiving the appropriate care that she requires and that the proper law enforcement authorities are doing a thorough investigation of this tragic incident.”
