One in eight Americans - over 39 million people - has a disability. In Michigan, over 13% of adults under the age of 65 have a disability. Unfortunately, people with disabilities have a much harder time remaining safe, exercising their rights, and being part of their schools and communities. People with disabilities are more likely to be abused or neglected, less likely to be fully employed at competitive wages, less likely to live in their communities and less likely to graduate from school.
